• 1. Assess the Damage-Examine the crack or chip to determine if it’s repairable. Cracks smaller than a dollar bill or chips under an inch are typically repairable.
• 2. Clean the Area-Wipe away dirt, debris, and moisture from the damaged area.
• Ensure the surface is dry before proceeding.
• 3. Prepare the Repair Kit-Use a professional windshield repair kit, including resin and applicators. Assemble the applicator according to the kit’s instructions.
• 4. Apply the Resin-Position the applicator over the crack or chip. Inject the repair resin into the damaged area, ensuring it fills the crack or chip completely.
• 5. Cure the Resin-Use UV light or direct sunlight to cure the resin, allowing it to harden and bond with the glass. This step typically takes a few minutes, depending on the resin and light source.
• 6. Remove Excess Resin-Once cured, scrape off any excess resin using a razor blade or scraper. Smooth the surface to blend seamlessly with the windshield.
• 7. Polish the Area-Clean and polish the repaired area to improve visibility and finish. Inspect to ensure the crack or chip is no longer spreading.
